Featuring ilian from TrackZero | Interview by Ruud Dreessen aka ebm-industrial.nl 11-02-2010

1- For the first question will be - do you know the netherland?
Unfortunately we haden’t had yet the chance to visit you.

2- Do you follow the electronic music scene, do you have any other favourite bands?
Of course, we always follow the scene but don’t have favourites, we always try to take a point from what we consider good.

3- Greetings ilian could you please shortly introduce our readers your music project TrackZero Please fill also a biographical resume about how, when and where...give us a more background information?
The current TrackZero's project born in 2003 with the meet of Drake and Ilian. Drake, in the past, had a long story as DJ in the hardtrance and psytrance scene, meanwhile Ilian was singer for the first TrackZero's project that was mostly Gothic/Industrial.The first song that took life, Red Alert, show clearly the cross of the two lines of sound with an hardtrance/harsh sound mixed with Industrial sounds and a strong vocal line. After that first experiment, the project started evolving greatly to generate a vibrant and unique sound: strong HardTrance kicks, heavily distorted EBM voices, mindblowing PsyTrance leads, all mixed under a strong TBM/Noize influence and a military-oriented presence.
It’s all written in the official biography, I can only add the recent choice of Cosimo to the drum station, which of course will add another push to the visual impact.

4- How did you start to make Techno / Industrial / Trance and what is Techno / Industrial / Trance for you?
We started with Trackzero project years ago deciding to join together our different styles and music tastes.

5- What and who are some of your influences in Techno / Industrial / Trance?
Besides the usual indirect ideas from major EBM bands, we don't follow any common line and prefer to find self inspiration. We prefer that our audience talks about this.

6- What are your top ten favorite Techno / Industrial / Trance Club Songs of all time? Who are you influenced by? What would you consider your favorite cd's?

7- Do you have a favourite track and album?
not in particular. Usually we change music and albums in base to my humor

8- So tell me a bit more about yourself, such as musical?
personally I like very much bands that are able to leave an imprint, a strong impact creating an atmosphere, that can really overwhelm the spectators. That’s why in every concert we try to personalize us. I am of the opinion that the true talent of an artist is especially in the originality and in the knowledge of how to surprise the spectator.

9- By the way do you like my questions? tell me what you think about it! ;-)
I think that when you try to know a band there’s always something interesting to discover.

10- What is the main idea, the message you want to leave to people who listens to you? What is your motto?
The main message that we want to leave is to open your eyes. You must always see the both sides of the coin, you should never listen only one version of the facts. Every man has a story and if u like it or not it doesn't matter since it's just it indepedently from who made it and for this it deserves to remain uncorrupted. Unfortunately it's also true that story is written by winners so we think that sometimes it can't be reliable, everything can be true or false , but only facts says the truth. With this project we want to show and propose a version of the facts seen from a different point of view, which is rarely shown or descrived in the correct way and for this reason it may result clumsy. But as it is said, somebody has to do the dirty job and in this case we are only limiting ourselves to describe and represent the same things that are written in an objective book.

11- What’s the name of your band? What’s the origin of that name? Have you changed the band’s name before?
The band was born with this name and it's still the same. The name was born from the fact that we wanted to represent what can’t be representable, what seems to be nothing can be everything, if you are able to create the vital essence of it. Years ago I’ve been impressed about of how Ilian represented the essence of the void in the esoterism, something that apparently seems unrepresentable but that takes vital essence from it to be everything, exactly like the endless number 0. The unrepresentable is a TrackZero.

12- At War [EP] where did the concept come from? and whats planned now that your album is finished? or anything else you're working on? Tell us a few words about the concept of this?
If you’re asking me the origin of the idea for ‘’At war’’ I can say that if you can’t mirror yourself in a sistem you can decide to succumb or to fight it. In our case we chose to follow the second option.

13- When's the new album coming out?
At the moment we are working on new tracks with a new instrumentation. Surely the sound and the image will be more incisive in comparison to the past.

14-How is the current promotional tour going for supporting this EP?
I can surely say that the minitour has had very useful experiences about the professional level, now we know how to improve and to make more conclusive the image and the sound of the band for the next year’s tour. You can never put the word "end" to our musical progress.

15- What do you think of a modern gothic and about Techno / Industrial / Trance scene?
At the moment I think that everything is too similar. It happens very rarely that I can find something particular and original. I think that taking inspiration is a good thing, but you always have to create something new and different from everything.

16- Our usual question - what is Techno / Industrial / Trance for you?
Techno / Industrial / Trance music is in our opinion a kind of juvenile subculture, but refering to our music we associate it to strength, aggressiveness and avant-garde.

17- What was your best live experience so far?
I think that since now the best performance was the one in Paris, we didn’t expected so many people and so much less a so good organization.

18- Please list the name, age, school, and respective instrument of each band member
Ilian : 26 age vocals/ lyrics / live scenography
Drake :27 age Samples / Synthetizers / Music / Effects
Cosimo :28 age drum station/Music

19-What are your views on the current state of this Techno / Industrial / Trance scene in Desenzano del Garda, Brescia Italië in terms of creativity and audiences? And the scene in other countries?
I have to say that the situation in Italy is not one of the best, people doesn’t follow very much the scene, contrarily to Germany, France and England, where it seems more appreciated.

20- you have very nice numbers`.............. tell me about lyrical compositions what you can tell about the done work? How does your music creation process work? How do you create a song?
Usually I talk about facts and events happened in the past, or about recent problems that aren’t very different from the old ones… it’s like taking a trip in the past and realizing that only few things are destined to change in the human nature… I’m sure that the present is the product of what happened in the past.

21-What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Who are your major influences?
We don’t do a particular kind of music, but people usually defines our music like techno/industrial As for the influences we prefer that is the public to notice them.

22-Since the music industry is more open now to purely electronic music has this made things easier for you?
When you have a strong image like our you have to work a lot on it, you have problems even if the musical market is open.

23-So what are their main influences as a band at the moment?
I can surely say that the actual sound is more military and dark. We will see what the public will say.

24-What is currently inspiring your material as an artist? tell me all about the Techno / Industrial / Trance scene of Desenzano del Garda, Brescia Italië?
I take mainly inspiration from films and books that talk about the Berlin of the ‘30/’40, and I try to represent the events of those years.

25-Do you think that people from the music press didn't expect you to grow up musically?
Usually the magazines notice you later than the fans.

26-what is the key to making music from TrackZero and what inspires you to keep growing as a musician?
The basic intention is definitely the idea of a conjunction between the spread of both the objectivity and the value of the historic and cultural heritage of the nation. This gives a turn to the shape of our minds, allowing us to get a strong inspiration from each moment of the day. This brings us to compose initially simple jingles, then whole songs.Without any doubt what motivates us to go on and rewards us a lot is when we listen our pieces in the clubs and see that people appreciate our work.

27-How do you see the future of download / Copyright in area of goth-Techno / Industrial / Trance music? What are the best ways to develop it in your mind ?
Well, of course the best way to make you know is to do a lot of live shows, which guarantee a good propaganda

28-If there was one thing you want people to know about your band what would that be?
With our music we aren’t trying to do propaganda, we only say the facts that usually are hidden. Our performances are a sort of historical representations.

29-Please let us know about your upcoming plans, some new releases you like to confirm here
At the moment I can’t confirm nothing new, we are working on the production of a definitive first album which will include a remix of Eclypse close. Surely we will anticipate something in spring.

30-It has been a pleasure to interview you on your musical activity,Well, any last words to your ebm-industrial fans?
We thanks everyone who support us and those that not only didn't opposed us by pointing their finger but were also able to see behind our appearence. All this help us to continue our activity

31-and what is next on Desenzano del Garda, Brescia Italië agenda?
I’m sorry to say this but for expand our music we have to exit from Desenzano, which doesn’t offer very much about the music scene, especially for our kind of music. We will project a tour that will touch the mean cities where this kind of music is appreciated. Of course the performances will be different from location to

32-thanks for your time! great work on the albums and good luck with everything.any How can fans-to-be gain access to your music? Do you have a website with sample songs or a demo CD?
