Featuring thanks Jeez from Adam Kult Interview by Ruud Dreessen aka ebm-industrial.nl 16 jul 2010 0:53
Hi Jeez, we are happy to get the chance to ask you a few questions.
For the first question will be Thanks Jeez that you have found time to give answers to these questions,How are you doing?
Very good my friend, thank you for asking.
Hello Jeez what noise do you make in Adam Kult?
I write the 100 % of the music, I write the lyrics, and obviously I am the singer too. So , you can understand that ADAM KULT is a one man project.
How's the start of 2010 been for you thus far?
It was hard… really hard. No job and I fought against drugs addiction. So It was hard. But I am stronger than drugs and I won my battle against them… alone. Just me and my mind.
do you know the netherland?
Hell yeah ;) I lived in Amsterdam when I was 18 for few months ( I had a girlfriend there ) and we played in Utrecht in 2007.
For a lot of people, this is probably going to be their first full introduction to Adam Kult so how about you tell us a little bit about how you guys know each other and how the band came together?
As I said is a solo project, the guys who help me on stage are old friends.
Do you follow the electronic music Industrial / Gothic / Trance,do you have any other favourite bands?
May be time ago. I grew up with techno hardcore ( that's why I use to live in Amsterdam ) but I started to sing in metal bands. So metal and techno are my first loves.
How is your relationship with other electronic bands?
Pretty good. I know personally guys from Hocico, Agonoize, Blutengel, Nurzery Rymes, Grendel, Xp8 and many more.
Can you give us a brief run-through of Adam Kult story so far?
Adam Kult was born from the ashes of another EBM band " Revelation Machine" I started writing material in late 2004. After completing few rough demos I met Chris Phol from Blutengel and then he signed us on his lable. Fearsection. Then we started play around Europe. We played Wave Gotik Treffen, and we toured with Blutengel in 2007.
When did you form Adam Kult?
I formed Adam Kult December 1 , 2004.
What are your top ten favorite Club Songs of all time? Who are you influenced by?
I don' have a top ten, and I am not influenced by anyone actually.
What would you consider your favorite cd's?
Mellon collie and his infinite sadness and Ava Adore by Smashing Pumpkins, Master of Puppets by Metallica. Mutter, by Rammstein, Lateralus by Tool.Perseverance by Hatebreed. The fat of the land By Prodigy.
What are the future plans for Adam Kult?
Writing the third album, get another deal and tour intensively.
What is the main idea, the message you want to leave to people who listens to you? What is your motto?
The first album focused on Kabbalah, ( ancient Hebrew discipline ). The second was more dance floor friendly, let's say more easy on lyrics. The third one will focus on commitment, discipline and personal belief. Since a fought a terrible battle with drugs… I just want share my experience trying to help people to understand the power of the mind over the addictions.. My motto is " Greatness comes to those who take it "
What's the name of your band? where did the name come from? or what's the story behind the band name?
The name of the band came from Kabbalah. Adam is the first man, the first one who faced the rage of G.od ( please leave the point between G and OD , is my personal way to honor the name of G.od, I never pronounce it or write it full , And no.. 'am not Christian or Catholic… I just respect the creation. ) Kult obviously is a cult. Then Adam Kult is the cult of the man, the cult of his power. the power that resides within all of us.
If people don't know what you and your music are about, how would you describe Adam Kult?
It is difficult to describe the band now. I am changing deeply… I am unable to define it at the moment. Ask me again the same question in few months. :
"Harsh is Dead" and "Endless paranoia`s taste" where did the concept come from? and whats planned now that your album is finished? or anything else you're working on? Tell me why this title,"Harsh is Dead" and "Endless paranoia`s taste" Tell us a few words about the concept of this?
The concept behind Harsh is Dead, obviously , declare my personal attitude against this scene. I really had enough. In fact the third album will be COMPLETELY different. "Endless paranoia`s taste" is what I felt during my journey with drugs.
How is your relationship with the fans like? Is it nice to meet fans or have you also problems with intrusive hysterical female and male admirers?
I love fans, I love to speak and to chat on line with them. I got few problems with female fans … they fought at some concerts for me… It was hilarious and flattering at the same time. Girls don't' fight for me… I got enough love for each of you ;).
How do you feel to hold the finished cd in your hands?
Very bad actually… since the first time I discovered the full cd uploaded on a Russian web site even before I had my original copies… it was uploaded before the release..probably by some asshole at the printing company…it was sad. But that's life…
How is the current promotional tour going for supporting this album?
Just working on it.. just wanna focus on writing kick ass stuff before to think at the promotion.
What do you think of a modern Gothic and about Industrial / Gothic / Trancescene?
I am too focused on my things . I have no time to have opinions about something else.
What's your favourite track of yours?
I still have to write it.
What and who gets you excited about music today?
Pretty nothing, sorry. :
Our usual question - what is music for you?
A way to explain what I have inside.
What was your best live experience so far?
Heading the second biggest metal festival in the world. I played in front of 110.000 people at Rock al Pargue 2002 , Bogota, Colombia . At the time I was studying in Los Angeles and I was playing with a death metal band from Hollywood called Agony. The second one was supporting Blutengel on their 2007 Fall tour.
What are your views on the current state of this Industrial / Gothic / Trancescene in Italië.in terms of creativity and audiences? And the scene in other countries?
There is no scene in Italy. May be 500 people around the country. I know just the German scene.. and is good, specially the girls :
What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Who are your major influences?
Got no influence, and I pretty don't' know how to consider myself in this period. I think I am just evolving .. same thing for the music.
Since the music industry is more open now to purely electronic music has this made things easier for you?
Not really… Internet ruined everything. It takes one year to write a good album and one second to have thousand of downloading… I am not attached to money.. just this don't allowed grow. Many good artist cannot continue to produce good music cause the illegal download. Got 45.000 almost illegal download for my 2 albums.. that I know… make some calculation. I repeat I don't care about the money … just I would like have the chance to tour or do big festivals. But they ask.. how many cds did you sold? And downloads doesn't count for them. So you cannot demonstrate that you are a big name in the scene.
So what are their main influences as a band at the moment?
No influences. I wanna write something completely new.
Do you think that people from the music press didn't expect you to grow up musically?
I don't care.. I just do what I love to do.
How do you see the future of download / Copyright in area of goth-Industrial / Gothic / Trancemusic ? What are the best ways to develop it in your mind ?
There is no honor, there is no respect of copyrights in goth and in all the others scenes.
Please let us know about your upcoming plans, some new releases you like to confirm here.
I can just confirm that I started to write the material for my third album. Endless Paranoia's taste.
It has been a pleasure to interview you on your musical activity,Well, any last words to your ebm-industrial fans?
Follow your dreams, don't let anybody tell you that you are not enough, that you don't worth enough and that you are unable to do something just because they have no guts to try . Choose just ONE thing.. and put all you got on it.
How can fans-to-be gain access to your music? Do you have a website with sample songs or a demo CD?
And, finally, what does the next twelve months hold for the band?
A new album , a kick ass tour, lot of fun and fulfillment.
Any last words? Thanks alot for your answers! We wish you furthermore great success and a lot of fun with your live-shows.
Thanx a lot for the interest in my project and for the support. Hope to come back to play in Netherlands soon :
Take care.
