This "interview" was conducted with Extinction Front on 10-Aug-2010 Thanks Extinction Front
we are happy to get the chance to ask you a few questions For the first question will be Thanks Extinction Front that you have found time to give answers to these questions,
You are wellcome, thank you for your interest in our band.
From which country / town do you come from?
We are from Barcelona, Spain.
how are you doing? Where are you currently?
we are currently working on the release of our second album, called 'DESTRUCTION SHOW'. We are also looking for bookers, to organize a tour through Europe.
Could you briefly summarize Extinction Front and what you guys are about?
Extinction front began five years ago as an escape valve. I do not understand the love for music without creating music. We share this love for dark music, so we need to express it.
what noise do you make in Extinction Front?
I've always loved electronic music, in fact I come from the techno music. it is useless to flee from these influences, so try to mix these inevitable influences with the music we hear in the clubs. We try to play the music we like, there's nothing more important than this for us
How's the start of 2010 been for you thus far?
Fortunately this year has given us the opportunity to acting in the movie 'Ghost track' with other important artist of arround the world.
Also, we're working in the second album DESTRUCTION SHOW
Other incoming projects?
I have other projects on which work when I have chance. GEARSHIFT RESISTOR with my friend Indio from TERROLOKAUST. And RANDOM BOY, an experimental project that try to create the House Body Music.
If you could play a show anywhere in the world where would it be?
One of our goals for next year is to play in the 20th edition of the Wave Gothic Treffen" in Leipzig. I think that would be a great concert.
What day jobs did you guys have while you were putting the band together?
I worked as a commercial, a well-known musical instrument store in Barcelona. Axys has recently completed his veterinary studies. Blut were unemployed and Oxide keeps his job as a pharmacist.
What is your music background? Who are you and your bandmembers? Tell your story
I have always experimented with electronic music in all its forms, from very young. Always trying to produce good songs.Axys was trained as a pianist at the Liceu in Barcelona, his classical training is helpful.and thanks to the expertise of Blut and Oxide have formed a great band.
What do you do when you're not partaking in band activities?
I am currently producing music videos for other bands. also every Wednesday working on a radio show in www.radioumbria.com
Back to your roots, how did you first come to music?
One day, when I was a kid, I thought turning on the radio for the first time. accidentally found the show PONTE A TOP a legendary show in the Spanish dance scene that made me interested in the Deejay world. From that moment it was decided the course of my life.
Tell me about Jan ( X-Fusion & Noisuf-X ) produced, and mastered ?
MOTHERVIEW was mixed in our own studio in Barcelona, we decided to contact Jan for the mastering process, because we love their sound and wanted to leave that task in hi professional hands.
When did you form Extinction Front? What inspired you to make music together?
íó I started in 2005, creating MOTHERVIEW tracks slowly and without haste.
When it was time to play live, I sought the help of musicians who support me live.
In fact, the formation has changed completely since then to become a team.
What are your top ten favorite Dark-Electro Club Songs of all time?
is a difficult decision ... This is something very personal, but I would say ...
1- Combichrist - This shit will fuck you up
2- Noisuf-x - Jezzebel
3- Aesthetic perfection - The siren
4- Namnambulu - memories
5- Reaper - Robuste Maschine
6- Wumpscut - War
7- Psyclon nine - Divine infect
8- Hocico - Ecos
9- Laibach - Tanz mit Laibach
10- Concha Velasco - La chica ye-ye
Do you keep up with how the record has been selling? Is that really important to you?
honestly, today the market is so screwed up that release an album and be successful is difficult. We keep trying, but it is not our main concern. Playing live is much more important than sales.
Who is your favorite band at the moment?
mmm... maybe The presets or Pendulum.
What band or bands would you like to tour with and why?
Combichrist Undoubtedly, as it would be a great experience.
and Nachtmahr, with which fortunately we will share the stage in October in Barcelona.
Is touring a pleasure or a necessary evil?
Is the most evil pleasure ;)
What would you be doing right now if you weren't in Extinction Front?
Probably I would be finishing my cinema degree.
And that's how you came up with the name of the band? How did you come up with the name Extinction Front?
First the band was called Apophisis, but I changed it because it seemed too topic.the name came from my ideas about global overpopulation, also discovered the work of Chris Korda and that was my main inspiration.
If people don't know what you and your music are about, how would you describe Extinction Front?
simply described as industrial music with hardstyle Influence.
How did you come up with the title "Motherview " (Extinction Front latest CD)
the name is a tribute to the work of a friend of mine who's an illustrator, and the thing is that his idea fits perfectly with the concept of the album
All right. You guys toured heavily after "Motherview " came out. How did the whole touring, to support that record, turn out?
The tour was basically within our country, were good concerts, and has fond memories of all the bands that have supported throughout this time. Assemblage 23, Gothica, Project pitchfork, mellotron, KMFDM ... and many more.
How do you feel to hold the finished cd in your hands?
Motherview is a free download album, so we have not had that opportunity with the first album. With DESTRUCTION SHOW we are satisfied of the work done and wanting to publicize it worldwide!
What are you currently listening to on your mp3 player? What artists have you been listening to these days?
Imperative reaction, Pendulum, The presets, Aesthetic perfection, Terrolokaust, Cotolengo squad... and of course Extinction front.
Do you spend a lot of time on remixing other artists tracks or is it something you do when you have some time over?
I love to remix, all sorts of artists, not to focus only on the dark scene. I love music! I always find some time for it.
Is your family pretty impressed with what you've done?
being honest ... I doubt it.
Have you recorded any previous cd`s or posted any audio files on the Internet? what type of recording process did you use? who produced your recording?
MOTHERVIEW an DESTRUCTION SHOW have both been produced by me, although I always seek the help of a professional for the mastering process.
What are your views on the current state of this Dark-Electro scene in Spain.in terms of creativity and audiences? And the scene in other countries?
in Spain it's going from bad to worse. consecrated bands fill the concerts, but does not pay much attention to new projects.
The scene in Germany is radically different, we hope to move to there soon
How did you sell your CD’s/Audio Files? (Consignment? Live sales? My space, iTunes,Distributor?)
all you mentioned, we have a fairly good agreement in that direction with our label. and you'll have no problem buying our album.
So what are their main influences as a band at the moment?
We influenced a lot in the Lives of bands like Slipknot, always fit the way we do, logically.
Do you see the Internet as a benefit for bands like Extinction Front? Does the growing possibility of someone downloading your material, rather than buying it, worry you?
Internet is certainly a help to promote itself. But today 90% of people download music illegally over the internet. Unfortunately the same tool that helps you to promote yourself is a major obstacle to selling your work and be rewarded for it.
What about all the big festivals? Summer Darkness in the netherlands? Mera Luna in Germany Familientreffen in Germany and Wave Gothic Treffen in Germany and many more?
We are working on it :)
what is the key to making music from Extinction Front and what inspires you to keep growing as a musician?
is very simple, a full and shaking dancefloor is the greatest reward for us. and always compose our music thinking in this.
It has been a pleasure to interview you on your musical activity,Well, any last words to your ebm-industrial fans?
remember this: Dormir, cagar y fiestar (sleep, shit, and partying) an anthem, folks!
Do you think the music industry is dead?
is not was dead, was on a spree. jajajaj is a typical expression in Spanish, write it on a paper, it will be useful.
seriously, the music industry is a zombie, and can only bite the privileged few.
Where would you like to see Extinction Front three years from now?
we expect to be recognized for our work, we would like our music reaches the audience it deserves.
I do not want under any concept to appear in celebrity magazines, you know Belen Esteban? jajjaja
What's the band's favorite song to play live?
'Shut the fuck up' and 'Rise of the robots'
What was it like the first time you heard one of your songs on the radio ore internet ore clubs? who was the DJ that played your song?
was in NOCTURNA CLUB and the deejay was our friend Sergio Delirio, we are forever grateful;)
By the way do you like my questions? tell me what you think about it! ;-)??
oh yes, it was very fun for me
Last question before I’ve gotta go! What bands would you like to tour with if given the opportunity?
Combichrist and Nachtmahr.
Thanks alot for your answers! We wish you furthermore great success Any final thoughts for the people out there?
