Bands: Razoritch, XmH, Agonoize & Amduscia
Date: 12-03-2006
Location: Ekko, Utrecht
I’d been in the Ekko for a few times now. It’s good to know that it’s a solid, not very big, club. They always manage to book some great names, and this time the Dutch part of the Amduscia vs. God Module tour was taking place in Ekko.Unfortunately God Module wasn’t able to take part in the tour due a serious back injury of Jasyn Bangert, the singer and main man of the band. God Module was replaced by the German bad boys from Berlin: Agonoize.
Razoritch
Afternoon started off with Razoritch from Almere (The Netherlands). Razoritch is a young band and this was (one of) the first gig(s) they played. They started of a bit shy, but they managed performing better the further the gig went.Unfortunately I couldn’t make out the lyrics because the vocal were too distorted. But they weren’t the only band that night that had that problem. One of the original things was that Razoritch has two singers. It worked out well, but the singers have to cooperate more with each other. Now there were two individuals on stage that didn’t seem to know each other. When you are with two you have the ability to put up a show twice as energetic as when you are alone. So in the future they really have to move around more on stage.Razoritch did a nice show as starters in the scene and I hope to see and hear more of them in the future. On Stage: 16:30 - 17:00 hour
XmH
The second band on stage was XmH from Vlissingen (The Netherlands). I already had seen these guys live at Terra Gotha XI. Back then I wasn’t impressed. It sounded pretty standard and the sound wasn’t too well. This time I was impressed! Singer Benjamin was running at the stage like a madman. It was nice to hear that he didn’t use distorted vocals but used his own (aggressive) voice. The show had a professional attitude and the songs were catchy.Maybe the music is a bit standard EBM, but who cares? The way these guys bring it live is great: no nonsense and straight in your face. Surely we will hear more of XmH in the future, if they continue their upward spiral! Stage: 17.30 - 18.00 hour
Agonoize
As said before, Agonoize was replacing God Module. When I saw them last year I wasn’t impressed about the live show at all, although I really love their albums. Maybe this time there was a better ambience or something, but I enjoyed the over-the-top act more than the other time.Instead of three, Agonoize only came with two members this time, but that was no problem at all. The show was energetic and (as said before) with some over the top horror/gore elements. These elements, mainly using a lot of blood, were for me more funny than shocking, but it worked out well. This time I knew more of the songs and they were great to shout along. Too bad the songs sound all the same after a while. It was for the show that I stayed and watched. This was the only disadvantage of the show, by the way. But Agonoize played a lot of songs that I liked, so it was worth waiting for those songs. One of my all-time favourites remains ‘To Paradise’.It was nice to see that the keyboard player also took part in the show and didn’t just stand behind his keyboard. No, he was very energetic too and managed to be more than just scenery. On Stage: 18:30 – 19:15 hour
Amduscia
I was really eager to see Amduscia live. I liked their debut ‘Melodies For The Devil’ a lot and was sorry that I had to miss them in march 2005. I hardly knew any of the new songs, so that was a disadvantage for me.The show was not bad at all, singer Polo had a great (I suppose ‘home made’) womb-like accessory on his belly with a baby (doll) inside of it. The rest of his outfit was more or less something mummy-like, but it looked okay. The other two band members played the synthesizers. To bad they did not move for a bit, except then for their hands. They were completely the opposite of the Agonoize keyboard player, and just blend in with the background. The show was completely around singer Polo. The annoying thing was that singer Polo only was walking from the left of the stage to the right of the stage. That made it pretty hard to make some decent pictures, but it also felt like I was watching a tennis-match.The vocal were also too distorted to understand a word he was shouting. On the one hand that doesn’t have to be a problem, but on the other hand it can be annoying. And for me, it was.Still Amduscia did a nice show and I’m glad to have seen them live.On Stage: 19.30 -20.30
At 20.45h the concert was finished and we were outside again. Leaving with the thought that it weren’t the best concerts we’ve ever seen, but it sure was an (early) night to remember. Great shows!
