some questions & answers to use in an interview !

We are happy to get the chance to ask you a few questions For the first question will be Thanks Franky D that you have found time to give answers to these questions

For those who don't know Darkmen , tell me something more ...
Darkmen was formed in 2005 by two friends : Franky Deblomme & Thomas Vrambout .Till now we relaesed 2 cd's . The EP ' Guilty! ' was relaesed may 2009 and included remixes from our friends Orange Sector The full album ' Guilty by association ' was released august 2009 We are signed to the American/German label Cop International ( on the sublabel Machineries of Joy ).

Now , it seems to have been a quiet year for Darkmen . How come ?
It's correct that we didn't do a lot of gigs this year,We had a lot of things going in our personal lives ...Franky moved to another place ,got promoted at work ... and Thomas got married ! So this wasn't a very inspiring time for Darkmen Must say we did quite a lot of remixes : one for SA42 's new album , one for the new Red Industie album , there's a remix on the new Void Kampf album ... and there is also the new compilation ' Hymns of sex ' on Machineries of Joy label that features a new Darkmen song .Some gigs are planed for the end of the year ... so thing are looking great again !

Any plans for a new release ?
Yeah ! We are planning something special : we will release 3 zeven inch vinyl singles together with Ionic Vison .They will be one colored vinyl , in a limited edition ( only 200 copies ) ... the first one will probably released for the end of the year ...By the end of 2011 we are plannig to release a new full cd also .

Why are your releasing on vinyl ?
Well , it's just a statement against the illegal download industrie .We are fed up with it ... when we released our first album , you could download it for free , even before it was released .So we wanted to do something special , for the people who love & care for EBM !

You seem to have a special bond with Ionic Vision ?
Correct ! First of all , Sven and Andy are the driving force behind Machineries of Joy label..and gave us a chance te release our first album .
Sven also co-produced our first album Next , we are really good friends with a love for EBM and Belgian beer ! We are in close contact , and try to develop the label in a possitive way .

You have been active in the scene now for 5 years . Made some interesting contacts ?
Sure ! First of all our friendship with Ionic Vision of course,We had a chance to play with Orange Sector ,Autodafeh ,Void Kampf ,Spark! so many bands,The most important for me : meeting Bon & Douglas from Nitzer Ebb ,Jean-Luc from Front 242 and  Robert from DAF We also have a very good relation with the EBM crew from Lille ( Walter & Greg from Sampler sans Reproche ) ,the EBM crew from Italy ( Electro Kommando ) and the people from Obscura in Maastricht of course :)

Live you always play a cover from Depeche Mode ...and your studio is named Bong 13 .What's the connection with Depeche Mode ?
Depeche Mode was a main influence for me ...as were other bands from the 80's who used synthesizers ( OMD , Soft Cell , ... ) The all showed what you could do with synths & samplers ...and more of course . Sampling metal being hit , put your synthesizer in an guitar amp just put it one step further than using stupid presets . Must say I lost intrest in Depeche Mode the last years .I have always been a synthesizer freak and when watching Depeche in the beginning of the 80's I just knew I had to have some synthesizers of my own .

A final thing to say ?
Well , look out for the vinyl we are going to release ... the working title is ' Exhibition Series ' ...more info will follow soon .

Stay loud , stay EBM !

Franky D.
