Morgana  (DJ)
Morgana started her DJ career in 1995 at CITR in Vancouver, British Columbia, while attending graduate school. She was trained by the infamous Nardwuar, the Human Serviette. By 1996, she started broadcasting her own industrial show called Distorted Circuitry, which ran late-night from 1:00 to 4:00AM on Thursdays. Here she began the tradition of having an All Gothic Edition of Distorted Circuitry the last week of each month. It was a great time slot for this type of music and there were always many callers. She interviewed bands in-studio and on-site at live shows including Unit:187, Spahn Ranch, and Stabbing Westward.Starting in the fall of 1997, Morgana contined broadcasting Distorted Circuitry at WMEB in Orono, Maine, a substanially smaller station in a substantially less populated area. Nevertheless, there was always a caller who would profess love for this genre of music, which made it worthwhile. After a 6-year run of Distorted Circuitry, Morgana decided to wrap up the show in August of 2002 and moved to Toronto. In Toronto, she immersed herself into the scene and began club DJ-ing in April of 2003. (Check the Club Nights section of her site for her regular DJ nights and special events). Then in July she began an internet radio show, on the now defunked Future Pop Radio, called distorted.frequencies. (Check the Internet Radio section of her site for archived shows). For now, Toronto seems a good place to be.The Present Internet Radio In the summer of 2003, RantRadio approached Morgana about hosting an industrial show. Logistics took awhile, but starting in January, 2004, Distorted Circuitry was revived as a live, weekly internet show on RantRadio Industrial, which is now hosted bi-weekly by RaZoRGrrL. (Check the Internet Radio section of her site for more information). In May, Morgana was approached to assist in managing the content for a new online radio station that would stream her shows 24/7. Digital Frequencies was launched on May 28, 2004, but soon morphed into the industrial stream of partyradio.ca. It includes shows hosted by DJs in the Toronto area and some other DJ friends of Morgana. (More information can be found under the Internet Radio section of her site.)In Fall 2005, Morgana made another appearance on college radio, this time at CIUT, 89.5FM in Toronto as guest host of Dark Harmonies. Plans are in the works for a permanent slot at CIUT. Stay tuned..Morgana has had resident nights at both The Vatikan and Savage Garden in Toronto, and many guest DJ spots at New Scream at Savage Garden, at Darkrave and other Funhaus events, and at Saturation Bombing in Toronto. She has also had guest spots in Montreal, Quebec City, and Detroit. She typically DJs live about once/month.Morgana is embarking on a music project with Nick from the project, Fractured. The new duo is called Luminess and their debut was made on May 19, 2004 on WMEB in Orono, Maine and then on May 24, 2004's edition of Distorted Circuitry. The project is just starting out, but it is promising and the feedback is abundant and positive. In addition, Morgana plays live keys for Fractured whose debut release, "Only Human Remains" was released on Dependent Records on October 28, 2005. The first two live dates since the release, Saturday, October 29th, 2005 at the Red Square Nightclub in St. Catharines, Ontario, and on Saturday, November 5th at Darkrave in Toronto are just the beginning. Plans are in the works for a spring 2006 European tour. Fractured live also includes Famine on electronic percussion.
