Featuring Sander | Interview by Ruud Dreessen aka ebm-industrial.nl Date:Wednesday 4 March 2009 From: Black Selket

Thanks Sander that you have found time to give answers to these questions,

Greetings Sander could you please shortly introduce our readers your music project Black Selket? Please fill also a biographical resume about how, when and where.Black Selket was founded gife me more info.....
Hi Ruud, Black Selket is my own project, and give it a name of style haha I was always inspired in Egypt things, so thats why i choose for the name Selket. The Egypt horse head. And Black because I like that death color lol
The date when it starts I cant remember 1998 I think, but only make things for myself because I worked as DJ in the dance house scene for many years, Oldskool, Hardcore, Rave etc and runs also my own Label, still active!!
But after awhile I get bored with this style of music because my passion for darkwave music was bigger so it was time for new things.

What and who are some of your influences in music
I’m a very big fan of Praga Khan, on the first moment that I say there live act in 1992 the passion for electronic music was became more, they have always inspired me with their  typical way of music. Also Hocico is a very great music group and his melody lines are really great, and not many people can make this possible. Also his edit work I like so much. They are one of the biggest for me.Also Johan of Suicide Commando is a very great producer. I think this person have proved that passion for music can over win everything. And you can also hear that good in his songs.Simple, harsh and melodic.

What are your top ten favorite EBM / Industrial Club Songs of all time?Tell one
Mmm this one is not easy, but

Hocico – Fatal Desire is still the best
Dulce Liquido – Anticristianos
Agonoize – Sacrilege
Suicide Commando – Killing Game
Aesthetic Perfection – Spit it out

secret about yourself or the band that you have never told to anyone?
No I don’t have so tell me a bit more about yourself, such as musical? I live for music, and I’m very with the fact that I have meet Ralph from STAHLNEBEL He have make things changed in my musical way.And his family is great for this dark scene.I have no words for a good friend like this, without him our music will be empty

how and why did you come about starting Black Selket? what else inspires you to create?
Black Selket is always on the top, but I produce many styles of music and I’m still active in this.Techno, Minimal, and Hardstyle/Jump but for the moment  Black Selket is enough for me.

Tell me a few things about.Black Selket How did you decide to form this project, give us a more background information.
Mmm as I said before, when you have passion for music things started on times that you even can’t remember. I have do in the past a few remixes for C_lekktor, Angel Theory and XP-8 and after that I decide to do more music with Black Selket. Also they are two great bands with lovely music.

Let's talk about this Double CDR "Unexpected" Stahlnebel VS Black Selket ?
So what can I say about this. This cooperation with Ralph was a really nice time. Also the remixes that we received are awesome and have make for us more contact in this scene. For me is certainly sure that not always famous bands have talent. And myspace proves again that borders are small and this is a great opportunity for many people in the music scene.Special one DJ I must say thanks, and that’s End the DJ – for all his promotion about us and for us

where did the concept come from? and whats planned now that your album is finished? or anything else you're working on?
Ralph is always good in ideas and that is his work haha I think too difficult in this way.Led Manville create the design cover work, and also my sister friend Tania Folani. The logo that she designed for Black Selket is awesome.
We are always working on new tracks, so I guess no time to stop haha…

Tell me why this title "behaving mean"? Tell us a few words about the concept of this number?
Behaving Mean is from my side project Torture of Pain. The lyric is about crazy people in this world.Killing for nothing
tell me about the labels Zyncode records and Stahlblack Productions?
Zyncode Records is my side project Techno Label.STAHLBLACK PRODUCTIONS is from me and Ralph is this production we produce music.

How is the current promotional tour going for supporting this album?
Of course some songs where played by dj’s the last months. And we will do our best to give it more supporting and promotion. We must see what happen also, because we do everything by our self.

Tell us about the tbbm and Torture of Pain project and how it came about?
I met Sandra on myspace a few years ago and we were talked about our passion into music and we shared some music. After that we started a project with the subject that the sound must be a  little oldskool  sounded with slave sounds and sm screams.

Torture of Pain is formed in the dark and cold period of the year 2006. Sandra W. from Germany and you from the Netherlands tell me more about this project?
Me from The Netherlands and Sandra from GermanyDid I need say more…? Lol

Are you working on any current or future projects Stahlnebel?
Yes we are,it will be busy times and also we have many idea’s So no time for sleeping..haha and think creative all day.

What is the future for your project Torture of Pain I am looking forward for
your full length album give me more info?
I’m not sure what will happen, I (we) have no plans for a album, also because I’m very busy with STAHLNEBEL and I want to work with many artists. But you never know what the future will bring us.

Tell me more about the Black Selket members Sander Kapper (Programmer, Lyrics,
Vocals) Frank Veldkamp (Lyrics) Pieter Kloet (Vocal editor) gife me more info?
On this time I work alone and this will be like that.My mind for music is not easy also because I work very fast, Pieter Kloet learn me things about sound engineer and he did you few things for me in the past. But he is a very good friend of me and also Dutch. Now I write by myself and also Ralph have much talent in this. I like to work alone and Ralph is also a very fast person in mind and create very fast simple wicked things.

What are your views on the current state of this electro scene in Germany and The Netherlands.in terms of creativity and audiences? And the scene in other countries?
For us it will be a pleasure if we can do more live acts and work more together with other bands.Countries I don’t care because music is endless.

you have very nice numbers,"under control","unexpected","devils army","each day","angels die"and many more tell me about lyrical compositions what you can tell about the done work?
Yes the songs are amazing, but the secret is in the head of Ralph. His idea’s are my melody and his lyrics are my answer on this.

How does your music creation process work? How do you create a song? Mostly on a basic pattern, with a sample and a lyric.
I chance many times,so I arrange a couple of patterns and after a few cutes we choose the good line.Mostly I start simple but also a lyric is very important for me.

Out of all of your numbers, which number would you say is your favorite number?
Why? For me is that “Each Day” I don’t know why,but Ralph have write that lyric on a very passive way.And I like the slow beats and drops.“Sick world’ is also one of my favo. What is currently inspiring your material as an artist? tell me all about the dark scene of Germany and The Netherlands? I’m not so into that,I only listen music..but never search the net haha that’s the work of Ralph. He know this scene more better than me.I wear pink shirt’s if I want haha I totally don’t care about that.

How did you come up with the name of Black Selket? what is the key to making music from Black Selket? and what inspires you to keep growing as a musician?
I have no idea about that, but music is in my veins so I think that will drives me into this

What ideas, movements and personalities would you say were crucial for the definition and development of Black Selket as a creative entity?
I always follow my own way.And Black Selket is one of that so I have no answer on this lol

If there was one thing you want people to know about your band what would that be?
That Black Selket vs STAHLNEBEL always be there even when we are separated. And that we hope on more productions together and that our fans enjoy our music.PEOPLE MUST MOVE ON THE DANCEFLOOR

Tell us a little bit more about Stahlnebel and Ralph?
Great artist, kind, a one important thing!! A person that cannot be missed. Also Branco and Volker are very nice persons and without them we cannot make it.

What do you do in your spare time?
You mean free time? Then I enjoy my girlfriend, she’s a very talented woman with a warm heart. One person that always believe in me.And also we have two different culture so that’s always nice. And her way of thinking gives me power and more believe in what I and we can.The only word that I have, phom rak khun na krub .

Tell me about this number unischtbar remix from anamadim?
Mmm nice right? Anamadim have make a real awesome remix.Again a track with different things and his own creation. This boy have talent and it was a honor to receive this track of him.So cant wait to put my hands on one of his songs.

What do you think of its intermingling with the electro, Darkwave and EBM scenes? while electro is your main musical pallet, what other music do you listen to?
I listen to all kinds of music. When you always work into house music your brains need also more relax music. So I like romantic music till death music haha. But Darkwave will always be the leader of my passion into this scene.I don’t know how I can explain this in words.I love drama music, depressive music is not for all people. Why do you like it? So you have your answer Ruud haha lol

How long have you been in the music industry and how has it changed over time? Now I have to ask, what's the inspiration for the Black Selket story?.
I started music around 1992 on my first Amiga 500 in that period the classic oldskool was very famous here in Holland (Praga Khan) so I buy a computer a few synths and grow up everyday more and started to learn about sound engineer.I went always on Saturday to a record store and there I met many dj’s.And I learn their many people that also produce music. So till today I love to meet other artists and to learn more over and into music.

Tell me about Bunkertracks act 4 Alfa Matrix label Stahlnebel VS Black Selket Unsichtbar and Menschdefekt & Stahlnebel VS Black Selket "Stalingrad" [idea/samples by Menschdefekt lyrics, voice and music from Stahlnebel VS Black Selket ] and [re]Adjust Stahlnebel VS Black Selket Supernatural ability" [lyrics/music/samples by ReAdjust voice/additional music/additional sample from Stahlnebel VS Black Selket ] 3 number on Bunkertracks act 4 its very cool and you?
Bunkertracks is a great compilation cd and it is a honor to come out with 3 tracks.Dom of Menschdefekt is a nice person and Stalingrad was a great song of him.The rework was the idea of Ralph, like he always have.So we did this for him. But in the future we will work again with him for sure.Dom is also a person that belong in our team.
Supernatural ability is the work for Readjust, and we made also a rework for him.

Please let us know about your upcoming plans, some new releases you like to confirm here:
2 March was our release of “Under Control” and in the end of March the date for ‘Unexpected” will come. After that we will work again on new tracks and idea’s for our future plans.

How and why did you begin to make music? Why various electronic styles?
Because I love music, and I’m a big fan of tracker software and mastering music. The styles depend on the mood I into. But I like all styles and  I always will have that.

Tell us about your unique style of music and who are your major influences? Where do you typically get your inspiration for numbers?
It depend on my mood also. And also on what Ralph give me haha..sample, lyrics, idea’s etc

And on the album Stahlnebel VS Black Selket lot of remixen from Menschdefekt / Vision Anomaly / Cold Sequence / Anamadim / Cryogen Second / Juno Mission / Led Manville / Impact Pulse / Cold Drive tell me more about this?
This cooperations is for us a pleasure. Also the remixes give us the answer that many artists are great in what they are doing. We hope that we can do this more in the future and also reworks from other artists will be great. We love music, and to hear music from others is also a passion we share.

On question about influences and inspirations about Germany and The Netherlands? Are you currently working on or planning any new releases?
We are working now on “Unexpected” promotion etc and after that we will think about our next step.I think Germany have delicious food and it is the frontline of STAHLBLACK PRODUCTIONS :D It’s always a honor to stay there with the fantastic STAHLNEBEL Family. ;)
