Featuring Gustavo Montano aka reWired from  RW FFW  Interview by Ruud Dreessen aka ebm-industrial.nl Date:09-12-2009

Thanks Gustavo Montano aka reWired / RW FFW that you have found time to give answers to these questions,

1- For the first question will be - do you know the netherland?
Two of our members know it, CX and Arkadius, Bo Toxicuh and reWired have never been there, but we are planning to visit soon, probably during 2010.

2- What can you tell me about the origin of the name RW FFW (Rewind FastForward)
The origin of the name RW  (rewind) comes from what the past made of us and the nostalgia for those days when we were rebellious kids looking for an identity, something hard, something dark, not caring for a thing besides having fun and listening to old school Industrial, EBM and Hardcore. The part FFW  (fast forward) is the idea of a future, turning everything we are and everything we know into something new. Always looking for what is coming our way.In few words means... "What we were and what we will be"

3- Could you please shortly introduce our readers your music project RW FFW Please fill also a biographical resume about how, when and where... RW FFW was founded in ..... give us a more background information?
RW FFW was founded in late 2007, and reWired was the only member at the time. He was DJing for a long time at Raves and Clubs back in Mexico. He used to spin all types of hardcore techno because that was what the scene was in his native town. But then after moving to the United States he started working with few gadgets he bought on line (Korg Electribe and a Roland MC-808) and finally dedicated his time to his passion, dark and hard music. At the time the music didn't have any vocals, it was a complete different style from what you can hear now. After a while he met Arkadius Coxxx on-line, who lives in Bayern, Germany; and started talking and developing ideas for a bigger and better project. These two got along very well, the distance was no problem. He started developing the image and designs for the band (same ones you can still see in our website these days). Then he traveled to the United States to meet with reWired in person. New music was developed during this trip and of course, a lot of clubbing. People in Los Angeles still ask for him at all the clubs, he did things that no one ever has done INSIDE a club before (I will not say what, but WOW, that kid knows how to party). Then near the end of  2008, they decided to post an add on Craigslist; that's when Bo Toxicuh came into the picture, showing great talent and charisma that were needed by the band. Bo Toxicuh was part of a couple of bands before joining RW FFW and still have a solo project names Botoxic, which is a little different from what we do as a band. Besides singing he is a model as well and he is been part of many publicity campaigns and music videos.Around the same days the last integrant of the band showed up around Los Angeles coming back from a long stay in Hawaii, where he was DJing at clubs and raves. This member was CX, another mexican that's been traveling all over the United States looking for a place where he could express his talent. CX knowing reWired since they were kids rapidly assimilated the spirit and style of the band. He started producing music right away and coming up with great tracks, surprising all the other members with his creations.

4- How did you start to make Hardcore / Industrial / Electro and what is Hardcore / Industrial / Electro for you?
BT: I was 18 when I started, and hardcore for me is any thing that will light your mind, body and soul on fire.

rW: The story is... back in the day, back in Mexico; an American kid moved to town, he wouldn't speak a word of Spanish and he was really different from the rest of us, his hair was "crazy", his clothes and his taste on music were something else. One day we decided to go to his house and hangout in his room; he started showing us all his tapes, not a single one looked familiar, bands like Skinny Puppy, Front 242, The Cure, NIN and a band that I never hear of ever again named Tit Wrench got my attention... my days listening to Heavy Metal were over. After that we became great friends and we still share music and info about bands

CX: I´ve been making electronic music for a while and after we started this project my taste for music has become harder and harder.

AC: A lot years ago i was playing a bit with FRUITY LOOPS but i quit till I found ReWired and he invited me to become a part of the band and so I started again.

We like them, they are making us remember things that we forgot about it.

10- What is the main idea, the message you want to leave to people who listens to you? What is your motto?
BT: Don't be a typical stupid American human in general.... educate your self's damn it !!!

rW: Everyone has talent, don't listen to anyone that tells you different. You just have to find it.

CX & AC: ReWind your world, FastForWard your actions.

11- What’s the name of your band? What’s the origin of that name? Have you changed the band’s name before?
RW FFW, and it hasn't change, we all like it.

12- where did the concept come from? and whats planned now that your album is finished? or anything else you're working on? Tell me why this title, Tell us a few words about the concept of this?
We like to make people think (besides making them dance) singing about taboos and showing the other side of things.

As soon as the album is finished we want to start touring all over the US and Europe if possible. And we don't have a tittle yet, but we do have a bunch of ideas already.

13- When's the new album coming out?
We are making plans for early 2010, last details and mastering is being done at this moment. If everything goes as planned, probably during April.

14-How is the current promotional tour going for supporting this album?
We haven't start touring or taking dates for it yet, we are preparing the LIVE versions of the songs, adding more acoustic instruments and some extras so we'll be giving the songs a new kick.

15- What do you think of a modern Hardcore / Industrial / Electro and about Hardcore / Industrial / Electro scene?
The modern hardcore scene is growing pretty fast, every time we go to a club more people dances to harder music. At least in Los Angeles, girls are a big part of it, they love to dance to Powernoise not only Synth Pop or EBM. In general we think is OK, but are planning on evolving it.

16- Our usual question - what is Hardcore / Industrial / Electro for you?
It's an expression of our inner beings, all that hate, pain, frustrations, suffering and anger comes out on a creative way that can be enjoyed by many and danced to it. On few words, a release of power, anger, happiness and voice.

17- What was your best live experience so far?
(this one doesn't apply since we haven't tour yet)

19-What are your views on the current state of this electro scene in Nurnberg, Boston, Denver and Hollywood in terms of creativity and audiences? And the scene in other countries?
Los Angeles has a great scene, really big, really out there and everyone in really open to new styles, it doesn't matter how hard it is, they'll dance to it. There are plenty of Cybers, Goths, Neo Goths, EBM's and Powernoise people.Denver has a really good size scene, mostly Goth and it seems to be going into a transition period. New people are joining the scene and giving it a new "twist" that sometimes the "old school" goth community members can't understand. Cybers are pretty new to this city and the Hardcore section of the scene is pretty small (or at least no too visible). Boston has a smaller community than the other to cities listed first. Club nights happen once a month or every other week. Is a little hard to find clubs to party.Nurnberg has a really experienced scene, people are really open to new bands and styles of dark music.

20- you have very nice numbers`and many many more tell me about lyrical compositions what you can tell about the done work? How does your music creation process work? How do you create a song?
Most of the time, if not all the time; we start with the music, just something that sounds and feels good. After that we "dare" Bo Toxicuh to add vocals and a melody to them, and as always we surprises us with something really unique and incredible. After that we make some adjustments and arrangements to make it more complete and finished.

21-What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Who are your major influences?
EBM and Hardcore

22-What do you do to chill out?
reWired - Gardening while drinking a beer (Franciskaner or Fat Tire)
Bo Toxicuh - Watch cartoons
Arkadius Coxxx - Sports and collecting military stuff
CX - Go to the gym

24-What is currently inspiring your material as an artist?
Social Controversy, the Hunger for Power, Self Deprivation, Fanatics, S&M, Religion Extremists and Dancing.

25-Do you think that people from the music press didn't expect you to grow up musically?
No, we think we caught a few people off Guard.

26-what is the key to making music from RW FFW and what inspires you to keep growing as a musician?
Digging for new deeper metaphors that nobody will think of but when they hear it they get it on the spot

27-How do you see the future of download / Copyright in area of goth-Hardcore / Industrial / Electro music ?
People are going to continue downloading music illegally, so really why fight it.. It's you against millions. We say give the people what they want and you will be loved..

29-Please let us know about your upcoming plans, some new releases you like to confirm here
We are currently mastering our album, and we have some new shit that will set us apart form all the rest
