INFO
This "interview" was conducted with cyb3rella of EXT!ZE on 11-Aug-2010 Thanks cyb3rella

we are happy to get the chance to ask you a few questions For the first question will be Thanks cyb3rella that you have found time to give answers to these questions,

From which country / town do you come from?
Cyb3rSlut and I are French, but I’m living in Germany in the same town as Dj Barus. Ionic Matrix is German and is living in Swiss.

how are you doing? Where are you currently?
I’m currently at home in Mannheim and I’m working on the next EXT!ZE productions.

Could you briefly summarize Extize and what you guys are about?
EXT!ZE is a mix between several different styles like goth, techno, trance, big beat etc… We are a kind of new generation cyberpunks; our targets are to have fun, to make party and to spread this style all over the scene…

cyb3rella what noise do you make in Extize?
I shout in the mic and rape the keyboards!

How's the start of 2010 been for you thus far?
Really good, we had many gigs, for instance at the Wave Gotik Treffen and Amphi Festival, and we had a new release: “Gothic Pussy EP” which good works!

If people don't know what you and your music are about where have they been!?,how would you describe yourself?
Cyb3r Tr4nce Industr!al Hellektro Krach from another space. Is that precise enough? If not: http://www.myspace.com/ext1ze

If you could play a show anywhere in the world where would it be?
I would like to play in Japan; I think it could be amazing. I’m fascinated of this culture.

What do you do when you're not partaking in band activities?
I go to festivals, concerts and parties. I’m always somewhere on the road, either for my business or just for having fun. In summer I go to motorbike meetings, since I’m coming from a biker family…

If you weren't a musician what would you be?
“I had a dream, I was an Hellektrostar…” ;-)   I would probably be a film star, but what kind of film… As I was a child, I always wanted to be a Motorhead !!!

What are your top ten favorite Trance / Gothic / Industrial Club Songs of all time?

Mind In A Box – Beyond the world
Metalspuerhunde – Was hat dich bloß so ruiniert
Aesthetic Perfection – Spit it out
Kloq – Kloq music
Neurotic Fish – They are coming to take you away
The Horrorist – One night in New York City
Soman – Divine
Twinkle – Tu as perdu
Memmaker – Energon (Studio-X RMX)
EX.ES – acces to the ex.es (pure adrenaline mix)

Do you keep up with how the record has been selling? Is that really important to you?
Of course it’s very important, on the one hand it gives you the motivation to continue, I mean that it shows you that the people enjoy your work. On the second hand it makes financial possibility to live, if no one would buy the music, we could not continue to make music…

Who is your favorite band at the moment?
Not just for the moment, but for ever: Mind In A Box

What band or bands would you like to tour with and why?
I would like to tour with Nachtmahr since Thomas Rainer is a good friend of me and it’s always so funny when we together make party! I think that a tour with him would be really bad for my healthiness ;-) but it would be incredible!

Is touring a pleasure or a necessary evil?
We are fine when we are on stage; each live show is a real pleasure! If you don’t have fun to be on stage, you have to stop making music!

And that's how you came up with the name of the band? How did you come up with the name Extize?
I don’t really know, we wanted a non-common name, dunked some wine and took some “biiiiip”, and this name came out!

How did you come up with the title "Gothic Pussy" (Extize latest ep)
The song “Gothic Pussy” was already on our first album “FallOut Nation” and we wanted to pick this song out, to make a new mix of it and to realize a porn CD! The production of the CD was really funny since all the songs are dealing about sex, so we didn’t need to switch our brains on to create this party EP! ;-)

How do you feel to hold the finished cd in your hands?
It was like an orgasm!

What are you currently listening to on your mp3 player? What artists have you been listening to these days?

Tiga – Sunglasses at night
Eisbrecher – Eiszeit
Pedulum – The island
Shiv-R – Happiness
Ashbury Heights – Medicine

Do you spend a lot of time on remixing other artists tracks or is it something you do when you have some time over?
I do it when I’ve enough time and when I like the song. I don’t like to do a remix just for promotion; I like when it’s a challenge and when the song inspires me. But I’m not a fan of remixing, it’s better to make so featuring, when two bands create one new song!

Have you recorded any previous cd`s or posted any audio files on the Internet? what type of recording process did you use? who produced your recording?
At the very beginning of EXT!ZE, the name was “Dream Obscene”, I posted my firsts song experiments on the web but I’m happy that they are lost since it was very strange… We produce all the EXT!ZE songs at my home studio, then I mix them and go to a bigger studio to master and finalize them.

What are your views on the current state of this Trance / Gothic / Industrial scene in Germany.in terms of creativity and audiences? And the scene in other countries?
The German cyber scene is day after day bigger; the audiences such as the bands are still growing and I’ve the feeling that it’s just the beginning. It’s the same in the other countries but I have to say that Germany is the land with the biggest audience.

What new music inspires you when you are writing? tell me about lyrical compositions what you can tell about the done work? How does your music creation process work? How do you create a song?
Before I start to compose a new track, I try to listen to other music style like big beat or metal. If I would listen industrial music, my mind would compose the same sounds and arrangement, and I don’t want to make a copy what is already done. I always start to create the instrumental, the hook lines, the beat, the structure… then I write the lyrics and record them. This process takes one/two weeks, and then I mix and master the recorded song.

Since the music industry is more open now to purely electronic music has this made things easier for you?
It’s easier in the way that more people enjoy the electronic sounds, but it’s not easier in the creation process since many bands sounds like others and it’s hard to have your own style. The promotion process is harder than ever since nowadays can everybody make music and the Internet is overflowed!

Do you see the Internet as a benefit for bands like Extize? Does the growing possibility of someone downloading your material, rather than buying it, worry you?
Internet is an easy way to promote music but I’m really sad to see that everybody can download music for free. People are always more thinking that music is for free and doesn’t matter of the work of the artist. Internet is killing the music industry and it is destructing the gothic scene too. Some people think that it’s good to download the music for free, they say that they never had bought the CD and through Internet they know the band and go to the concerts. It’s a thinking way, but I don’t agree this way, we often talk about it with the other artist and that’s a hard fact: Illegal download kill the scene. A tip: Save your scene and buy your music!

what is the key to making music from Extize and what inspires you to keep growing as a musician?
The key is just love and passion for music. Don’t produce music if you want to get rich or famous, create music to make you happy. The biggest motivation are the own satisfaction and the pleasure you have by composing music.

Please let us know about your upcoming plans, some new releases you like to confirm here?
We are producing our next album; it will be a concept album with the thematic: Heaven and Hell. It will be a very special EXT!ZE production, and we cannot wait to bring it out ! I cannot say more; just that it will be a masterpiece! We don’t have any release date for the moment but it will be for this year, I swear!

Do you think the music industry is dead?
If the people keep illegal downloading, yes the music industry is dying. At the first place, the little scenes like our scene.

Where would you like to see Extize three years from now?
I don’t know, I hope still in the gothic scene, at the Mera Luna and the WGT again!!!

What's the band's favorite song to play live?
At the moment, we love “Boyz love Girlz” since it’s always the last song of our shows and we always destruct something on stage at the end of the shows!!!

It has been a pleasure to interview you on your musical activity,Well, any last words to your ebm-industrial fans?
Stay X-tr3m, be yourself, save your scene and buy your music!!!

By the way do you like my questions? tell me what you think about it! ;-)??
A little bit too many questions but they are cool! Keep on doing your great work!
