Featuring Patrick and Jonas /from Dead Body Interview by Ruud Dreessen aka ebm-industrial.nl 09-03-2010

01- For the first question will be - Thanks Dead Body that you have found time to give answers to these questions,How are you doing?

Jonas: Anytime, this is our first interview so. We're doing great thank you.

Patrick: No problem.. as Jonas said, we are feeling great

02-Hello Dead Body what noise do you make in Dead Body?

Patrick: We make alot of different kind of noise, but mainly white and pink.

Jonas: Well, to be more precise we do what we would like to call electronic death metal. I.e similar song structures, double bass drums and roaring vocals.

03-How's the start of 2010 been for you thus far?
Patrick : It's been vrery good so far. We have released our first MCD and had our first gig.

04-do you know the netherland?

Jonas: Yes, I have been to the Netherlands several times for work, mostly in Groeningen and know how to say goedemorgen. Otherwise I really like Amsterdam, a truly nice town.

Patrick : Never been to it, but sure I know a bit about it. Clogs, Tulips and Heniken for sure.

05-For a lot of people, this is probably going to be their first full introduction to Dead Body so how about you tell us a little bit about how you guys know each other and how the band came together?

Jonas: Well, the goal of dead body is to create the harshest and fastest EBM ever made. Taking inspiration from death and black metal to serve as a measure for how hard we can go. Ofcourse though, with no guitars.

Patrick: One late octoberday in the late 90’s three guys started to make some hard EBM sequenced on a single Sequential Circuits Pro-One and a Roland TR-505.
Nothing was caught on tape. The band was put on ice. Many years later in the beginning of 2009 two of the guys were thinking of staring a new project. They decided to do something new and exiting.

06- Do you follow the electronic music Experimental / Death Metal / Electro do you have any other favourite bands?

Patrick : alot of them, since i'm a record-junkie. Some favouritebands are poupppe farbikk, cat rapes dog, orange sector, entombed, etc etc

Jonas: Well, I have been quite off the EBM scene for a couple of years, so I am mostly stuck at my old favourites such as pouppee fabrikk, skinny puppy, nitzer ebb. In metal my favourites would be alot, but to mention some: behemoth, entombed, vader, slayer.

07-How is your relationship with other electronic bands?
Jonas: Not counting Myspace/facebook we're quite new to the scene, but we are working on getting into the scene and all it's bands.

08- Can you give us a brief run-through of Dead Body story so far?

Patrick : see question numbero 5.

Jonas: 1990's: three guys doing ebm, 2009: two of the guys started doing it again :)

09- How did you start to make music and what is Experimental / Death Metal / Electro for you?

Jonas: We talked every now and then to actually start doing music again. Finally, for a reason I cannot remember (and we weren't even drunk), we got down to it and made the music. Then it all came more by itself.

Patrick : The body scene is all about pounding basslines and a steady beat, but we take it to a new level, never heard before.

10-What did you guys do for a living before Dead Body?

Jonas: Well, it's not like this band is a full time job, so I'm still doing the same work as before actually.

Patirck : So am I. Living on dead body is not so easy.

11- When did you form Dead Body? What inspired you to make music together?
Jonas: We formed it as dead body in 2009, before that I don't think we actually had a name for the band (i.e. during the 90's).

12- What are your top ten favorite Experimental / Death Metal / Electro Club Songs of all time? Who are you influenced by? What would you consider your favorite cd's?

Jonas: I wouldn't say that death metal has that many club songs. But a perfect death metal club song would be Wings by Vader. In EBM I would like to mention (ofcourse) headhunter by Front 242 and Getting closer by Nitzer Ebb.

Patrick : Some good clubtracks are, pouppe fabrikk - summon the spirits, orange sector - führ immer, presto fervant - butchers knife, run level zero - feedback birds (pouppee mix), nitzer ebb - crane

13- What are the future plans for Dead Body?
Jonas: We are aiming to be FASTER, HARDER but NOT Scooter :).  No, but seriously we are aiming to be much more extreme moving nearer to death/black metal. Still ofcourse not using any guitars.

14- Do you have a record label? Are you a member of any music organizations?
Patrick : No record label yet, but we hope to get one soon, otherwise we will release our first CD ourselves.

15-What are you currently listening to on your MP3 player?

Jonas :Behemoth, behemoth, behemoth, behemoth... and some Fronline assembly.

Patrick: At the moment alot of documentaries, then there is alot of new swedish pop. But, there are also alot of oldschool ebm and some kathaklysm records in there.

16- By the way do you like my questions? tell me what you think about it! ;-)
Jonas: They are a bit extensive and we still have alot of them to go :).

17- What is the main idea, the message you want to leave to people who listens to you? What is your motto?

Jonas: HARDHITTING, FAST and EXTREME.

Patrick: Ditto

18- What’s the name of your band? where did the name come from? or what's the story behind the band name?

Jonas: We're dead body.. and it sounded cool.

Patrick: It's actually a kind of a wordplay, dead for death, and body for EBM.

19-If people don't know what you and your music are about, how would you describe Dead Body?

Jonas: Hopefully the hardest EBM they can get their hands on. Just pump up the volume to max and blow your neighbours out! (or eardrums, whatever works).

Patrick : keep small animals in a cage so they don't fly away.

20- premature autopsy where did the concept come from? and whats planned now that your album is finished? or anything else you're working on? Tell me why this title, premature autopsy Tell us a few words about the concept of this?

Patrick : The concept of the MCD is just about mixing down all old death metall influences into a new package.

Jonas: And the plans after this is to evolve even furhter in our quest to be the harshest EBM band out there.

21- Some quick fire questions: gitar or synthesizer?

Jonas: In dead body, synthesizer. Otherwise both.

Patrick: old analogue synthesizers of course

22-band or solo

Jonas: Band?

Patrick: soloband?

23-How is the current promotional tour going for supporting this album?

Jonas: We just had or first gig ever last week, so I would say it's progressing quite well.

Patrick : so the tour went very well, we arrived home safely.

24- What do you think of a modern Gothic and about Experimental / Death Metal / Electro scene?

Jonas: When it comes to gothic I'm not very up to date. I remember Sisters of mercy and Fields of nephilim being my favourite gothic bands some 10 years ago. Now I am not following the Gothinc scene in any way.

Patrick: The body-scene in sweden are atleast growing very nicely

25- What's your favourite track of yours?

Jonas: Our new one, undead. But from premature autopsy I personally like silence is nothing the most.

Patrick: I also like silence is nothing, but the noise-part of blinded by noise is not to bad either =)

26-What and who gets you excited about music today?

Patrick: Swedish radio channel 3 makes my day.

Jonas: Live shows. I'm hoping to see Vader next week.

27-Our usual question - what is music for you?

Jonas: Relaxing and energizing

Patrick: music can be anything, just listen to your everyday living.

28- What was your best live experience so far?

Jonas: I would actually say Die Krupps on the "I" tour in the 90's in Smedjan/Köping/Sweden.

Patrick: For me it's the Legendary pink dots gig for the pre-millenium single some ten years ago at pusterviksbaren/gothenburg/sweden

29- Please list the name, age, school, and respective instrument of each band member

Jonas: 30's - vocals & machinery

Patrick: 30's - vocals & machinery

30-What are your views on the current state of this Experimental / Death Metal / Electro scene in Sweden.in terms of creativity and audiences? And the scene in other countries?
Jonas: I would say that there is no scene in our genre, so I'd say the state is good, we formed :).

31- you have very nice numbers` tell me about lyrical compositions what you can tell about the done work? How does your music creation process work? How do you create a song?

Patrick: The work is that we first create some basslines, then add some drums, then write a hard lyric for it. Then mix it all in a large blender and serve with jäger.

Jonas: And some effects added in the final mix ofcourse.

32-What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Who are your major influences?
Jonas: As mentioned before, electronic death metal.
33-Since the music industry is more open now to purely electronic music has this made things easier for you?
Jonas: Not so far, but we're still hoping that it will.

34-So what are their main influences as a band at the moment?
Patrick : Harsh polish metal, some expensive wines and a tambourine.

35-What is currently inspiring your material as an artist? tell me all about the Experimental / Death Metal / Electro scene of Sweden?
Jonas: Try listening to Behemoth's album Demigod and not be inspired. And some promising new material from Pouppee Fabrikk also helps.

36-Do you think that people from the music press didn't expect you to grow up musically?
Patrick: I'm sure they never expected us to grow up musically becuase they never heard of us before.

37-what is the key to making music from Dead Body and what inspires you to keep growing as a musician?
Jonas: To keep getting the basslines harder, the beats faster and the vocals even more diabolical.

38-How do you see the future of download / Copyright in area of goth-Experimental / Death Metal / Electro music ? What are the best ways to develop it in your mind ?
Patrick: n/a

39-what was your childhood like?
Jonas: Nice thank you.

40-If there was one thing you want people to know about your band what would that be?
Jonas: HARD, FAST, HAVREMOPPE

41-Please let us know about your upcoming plans, some new releases you like to confirm here

Jonas: We're aiming for a new release later this year, hopefully through a label. However we need to find one first. This will be a really heavy production.

Patrick : and there will be more live shows this year

42-It has been a pleasure to interview you on your musical activity,Well, any last words to your ebm-industrial fans?

Patrick : always drink some of gods gift to mankind

43-and what is next on Sweden agenda?
