INFO
This "interview" was conducted with 00tz 00tz of 00tz 00tz on 10-Aug-2010 Thanks 00tz 00tz

From which country / town do you come from?
We are from the US, New York City to be exact.

how are you doing? Where are you currently?
We are doing well, currently we are in our home city, busy completing our upcoming album..

Could you briefly summarize 00tz 00tz and what you guys are about?
00tz 00tz is an Industrial group that is all about making you move on the dance floor; we combine driving  beats, harsh synths, thought provoking distorted vocals and memorable samples to create our own original sound.

00tz 00tz what noise do you make in 00tz 00tz?
CyberTek music! We combine elements of EBM, Elektro, Aggro, and other various genres of electronic music, along with vocals, samples and other manipulated vocal parts.

How's the start of 2010 been for you thus far?
It has been busy; We have been working on our soon to be released second album titled "Frequency Damage" along with an EP, titled "Frequency Repaired" that will consist of remixes.

If you could play a show anywhere in the world where would it be?
Any of the larger Ebm/goth/industrial festivals such as but not limited to Mera Luna, Wave Goffik Treffen, Amphi, etcÖ..

What day jobs did you guys have while you were putting the band together?
We both worked as Librarians at a library for a University.

Who are you and your bandmembers?
00tz 00tz is made up of two members, Krysta Veronia Button and Nicky Phoenix.

What do you do when you're not partaking in band activities?
When we arenít working on music, you can definitely find us on the dancefloor of an industrial/ebm/goth club somewhere in the world.

If you weren't a musician what would you be?
Kysta Veronica Button would probably be an ecological tour guide while Nicky Phoenix would be a Secret Service/Military Computer IT Technician Engineer.

When did you form 00tz 00tz? What inspired you to make music together?
00tz 00tz has been together for about two and a half years. We are actually a married couple, both musicians, so we decided to form 00tz 00tz as a way to share our creativity and love for Industrial music.

What are your top ten favorite Industrial / Electro / Experimental Club Songs of all time?

God Module-The Source
Assemblage23-Dissapoint
Combichrist-This Shit Will Fuck You Up
Bruderschaft-Forever
Grendel-Hate This
VNV Nation- Standing (motion Remix)
Icon of Coil-Floorkiller
Covenant-Dead Stars
Faderhead- TZDV
Neuroticfish-Velocity

What band or bands would you like to tour with and why?
Probably VNV Nation, Combichrist, Covenant, or Assemblage 23, because we have a lot of respect for each of these bands, and love their music.

Is touring a pleasure or a necessary evil?
Definitely always a pleasure! We look at it as a vacation.

What would you be doing right now if you weren't in 00tz 00tz?
Working, clubbing, sleeping, repeat; or forming a different band

And that's how you came up with the name of the band? How did you come up with the name 00tz 00tz?
We feel that the term 00tz 00tz describes the sound of the beat in electronic music, namely industrial music, and hence became the name of the band.

How did you come up with the title "Death By Numbers" (00tz 00tz latest CD)
Cybertek music is all about modern to futuristic computer digital technology. Binary code being the language of modern digital technology, is made up of numbers; 0ís and 1ís specifically; hence the title.

All right. You guys toured heavily after "Death By Numbers" came out. How did the whole touring, to support that record, turn out?
We actually didnít get to tour as much as we would have liked, but overall our shows went well.

How do you feel to hold the finished cd in your hands?
Fantastic, the completion of our album represented the culmination of nearly a yearís worth of hard work!

What are you currently listening to on your mp3 player? What artists have you been listening to these days?
Modulate, FGFC820, Cruxshadows, VNV Nation, Combichrist, Assemblage 23, Grendel, etcÖ.

Tell me about "Frequency Damage" Out Late 2010
It is actually nearly completed!  We are very excited about this new release because it is our first album to feature full vocals!  Weíve spent the past year working on it and we hope our fans love it as much as we do!

Is your family pretty impressed with what you've done?
Sure! They are begging for CDís & posters.

What are your views on the current state of this Industrial / Electro / Experimental scene in United States in terms of creativity and audiences? And the scene in other countries?
The scene is alive and well here in the United States, we are starting to notice more and more festivals popping up every year.  The scene and festivals here are still nowhere near the scale of the European festivals.

What new music inspires you when you are writing? tell me about lyrical compositions what you can tell about the done work? How does your music creation process work? How do you create a song?
Lyrically our music is inspired by Krysta Veronica Buttonís poetry; musically it starts with a distorted beat, which gets elaborated on, the final product is a reflection of how Nicky Phoenixís mood is that day. Itís all very emotional really.

How did you sell your CDís/Audio Files? (Consignment? Live sales? My space, iTunes,Distributor?)
Our music is available for digital download via various online stores including itunes, amazonmp3, Fixt Store etc.Our physical CDís are available at Musicnonstop.co.uk

Since the music industry is more open now to purely electronic music has this made things easier for you?
We havenít really noticed a difference.

So what are their main influences as a band at the moment?
Musically, Combichrist, Grendel and Modulate; Vocally itís really just original poetry put to music

Do you see the Internet as a benefit for bands like 00tz 00tz? Does the growing possibility of someone downloading your material, rather than buying it, worry you?
Yes we see it as a benefit because it makes our music more widely available to people all around the world.  It is also worrisome at the same time, of how some sites obtain and offer our music without our permission, and how it is offered for free or next to nothing.

What about all the big festivals? Summer Darkness in the netherlands? Mera Luna in Germany Familientreffen in Germany and Wave Gothic Treffen in Germany and many more?
We would love to eventually get to play at all of them!

What is the key to making music from 00tz 00tz and what inspires you to keep growing as a musician?
00tz 00tz gives us an outlet in our continuing originality and emotional expression which drives us to keep making music. A glass or two of wine helps the creative process flow. To grow as a musician you cannot stay caught in doing the same thing on every album. At times you have to go outside the box & try different things, different sounds etc..

If there was one thing you want people to know about your band what would that be?
We are here to give you music that you can identify with, makes you move, and provide you with an escape from your everyday life.

Please let us know about your upcoming plans, some new releases you like to confirm here
We plan to release both the full length album "Frequency Damage" and the EP "Frequency Repaired" in the next few months; we are also planning a tour to support the release.
